Terms of Service
The agreement between you and Blue Feather Digital GmbH for use of StarFlash. Last updated 6 August 2026.
Agreement
By accessing StarFlash you agree to these terms. If you are using it for an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to accept on its behalf. The service is provided by Blue Feather Digital GmbH.
What the service is
StarFlash indexes and makes searchable real-time data published by public sensor networks worldwide, and provides interfaces and an API for querying it.
About the data — read this part
This is the most important section for anyone relying on StarFlash.
- We do not own most of the data. It is published by third-party operators — meteorological services, hydrological agencies, transport authorities, research institutions and community projects — each under its own terms and licence.
- We do not guarantee its accuracy. Readings come from instruments we do not own, operate, calibrate or maintain. Sensors drift, fail, report stale values and are sited inconsistently.
- It is not fit for safety-critical use. Do not use StarFlash as the sole basis for decisions where life, health, property or safety are at stake. Use the responsible official source.
- Source licences still apply to you. Where an upstream network attaches attribution or redistribution conditions, those conditions govern your use of that data.
Acceptable use
You may not:
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the service or its infrastructure.
- Place unreasonable load on the service, or circumvent rate limits or access controls.
- Scrape or bulk-extract the index outside the API and the plan you hold.
- Use the service unlawfully, or to infringe the rights of others.
- Misrepresent the data's provenance or accuracy, including presenting it as official measurement.
Accounts
You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping access to it secure. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms.
API
API access is subject to the limits of your plan and to these terms. We may change limits or endpoints, and will give reasonable notice of breaking changes where we can. [CONFIRM ANY COMMITTED NOTICE PERIOD OR DEPRECATION POLICY.]
Availability
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Maintenance, upstream network outages and factors outside our control will cause interruptions. [CONFIRM WHETHER ANY SLA IS OFFERED ON PAID PLANS.]
Our intellectual property
The platform itself — its software, interfaces, search index structure, dashboards and branding — belongs to us. These terms grant no licence to it beyond using the service as intended.
Disclaimers and liability
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law, including any warranty of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of profits, revenue or data, arising from use of the service or reliance on its data. [CONFIRM THE LIABILITY CAP AND ANY MANDATORY LOCAL EXCEPTIONS.]
Changes and termination
We may update these terms; continued use after a change constitutes acceptance. You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or discontinue the service or any part of it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION], and disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of [VENUE].
